Overview

The Laboratory Sciences Biomarkers and Cell Platforms division within DTS at Inotiv represents a contemporary organization focused on biomarker analysis to help our clients understand the effects of therapeutics in a wide array of pre-clinical disease models through participation in the design, scope and execution of studies as well as the analysis and modeling of data originating from these investigations. Our specialty lies in multi-color Flow Cytometry, custom In Vitro assay development, Luminex multiplex cytokine analysis, custom and commercial ELISA analysis and qRT-PCR. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a group of scientists, leading from the bench, and utilizing these techniques to help meet our customers goals of better understanding the role different therapeutics play in the disease models being evaluated.

 

With increased demand for pharmacologic and toxicologic investigations focused across multiple therapeutic areas (TAs) and ranging from discovery through preclinical development, demand for biomarker support has also increased. Inotiv is currently seeking qualified candidates to play a pivotal role in this growing area of drug discovery.

 

The qualified candidate should have experience leading, designing, executing, and troubleshooting cell and molecular biology-based assays aimed at analyzing biomarkers of disease from a wide array of In Vivo and In Vitro models. The exceptional candidate will possess demonstrated experience mentoring small teams, collaborating directly with clients, assisting with study design and biomarker selection and coordination with interdisciplinary teams. The position requires outstanding attention to detail and record keeping, an understanding of advanced laboratory practices, sterile technique, Excel based data analysis and overall Good Laboratory Practices.

Responsibilities

  • Manage team of scientists and lead in designing and execution of cell and molecular biology assays to provide biomarker support utilizing and executing:
    • Multi-color Flow Cytometry, RNA/DNA isolation, ELISA, Luminex, qRT-PCR., etc.
  • Designing of study protocols and execution of custom In Vitro assays
  • Provide guidance and leadership on new assay development and biomarker selection in partnership with cross functional leaders
  • Data analysis and Quality Control of both custom assays and commercially developed assays
  • Lead, communicate, and coordinate with management, study coordinators, and subject matter experts
  • Mentor and assist direct reports with assay conduct and troubleshooting
  • Responsible for ensuring departmental schedules and workflow are accurate and efficient
  • Lead process improvement, including but not limited to SOP generation, presentations, data analysis, etc.
  • Technical writing, including ensuring documentation of study activities and results are accurate and clearly understood
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and comply with all regulations and safety requirements.
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • PhD in Immunology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences or a closely related subject area and a minimum of three years qualified experience (post-graduate program), preferably supporting drug discovery & development or direct pharmaceutical product development (preclinical and/or clinical experience).

Candidate Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of wet laboratory experience
    • Expertise and strong understanding of immunoassays (i.e. flow cytometry) molecular biology and cell biology techniques.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, presentation and organizational skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, as demonstrated by proficiency with Microsoft Office and statistical analysis (GraphPad).
  • An attitude for quality, an eye for detail, the ability to follow written instructions and work with a minimum of supervision.

*This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience.  The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person’s relevant experience and/or education level. This is an exempt position paying $92,000-$129,000/annually.
