Overview

Based out of Frederick MD.  We are looking for a responsible Class A CDL driver to fill the role of a Flex (Travel) associate to cover and fill in for established distribution routes at our 12 distribution centers around the country on a as needed basis. You will represent our company in a professional, safe and courteous manner aiming at increasing profitability and customer satisfaction. 

 

This is a multi-faceted Route Driver position based out of Frederick, MD

 

Schedule: Short notice travel for up to 3 weeks at a time. Eligible for overtime and overnight per diem.

 

Starting Rate: $33/hour + full benefits within 30 days of hire

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with using smart phone and Outlook for regular communication
  • Communicate professionally with leadership and warehouse teams
  • Comfortable transporting animals and products
  • Reefer operation and troubleshooting
  • Electric pallet jack operation
  • Inclement weather driving
  • Ability to organize and complete paperwork regularly

Responsibilities

  • Travel on short notice, up to 3 weeks at a time.
  • Be able to drive and successfully operate a Class A CDL Tractor/Trailer up to 53’ and below.
  • Operate as part of a Driver Team when necessary.
  • Pick up loads, verify for accuracy, and deliver on time.
  • Accurately complete paperwork.
  • Load and unload various types of cargo safely.
  • Drive safely in various conditions, including heavy traffic and inclement weather.
  • Inspect vehicle before start of shift; perform basic truck maintenance when necessary.
  • Follow schedule and rest when necessary.
  • Be able to read maps and follow directions.
  • Provide courteous, professional customer service at all customer locations.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Skills Needed to be a Class A FLEX Driver

  • Be able to repeatedly lift items weighing up to 70 lbs.
  • Drive for long periods of time safely.
  • Self-motivated and reliable.
  • Able to read maps and GPS coordinates.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Good knowledge of roads and direction, traffic laws, and DOT (FMCSA) regulations.

Requirements for Being a Class A Flex Truck Driver

  • Valid CDL Class A License.
  • Clean driving record (requirements, or certain exceptions, may vary).
  • At least one-year related drive work experience.
  • Able to Travel on little to no notice for periods up to 3 weeks.

*This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience.  The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person’s relevant experience and/or education level.
