Overview

Base pay is $30.00 per hour, but may be higher based on skills and experience

 

The Protein Purification associate will conduct laboratory activities related to protein purification and characterization. The candidate will have hands-on experience working on antibody purification, and dialysis in a research, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical company setting.

Responsibilities

  • Purify and characterize antibodies from complex mixtures using various techniques (protein A/G, SEC, ion exchange, and HIC, using FPLC affinity chromatography methods) and will perform large-scale antibody buffer exchange and concentration
  • Responsible for the biochemical characterization of various molecular properties using different methodologies (e.g., SDS-PAGE, isoelectric focusing, and endotoxin quantification/removal)
  • Thoroughly document, optimize, troubleshoot, and develop purification protocols
  • Perform minor clerical tasks relating to purification records assignment, review, and preparation of shipping documents
  • Use various software applications; spreadsheets, relational databases, and graphic packages to analyze/format data
  • May participate in a Lean Manufacturing-Plan, Do, Check, Act team and execute applicable study protocols
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related field with a minimum of 3 years of protein purification experience, in a research and development or biomanufacturing environment
  • Extensive hands-on experience with various protein separation techniques; protein A/G, SEC, ion exchange, IMAC, and HIC
  • Hands-on experience with AKTA chromatography systems preferred
  • Experience with handling biological cell culture supernatants and ascites
  • Ability to maintain detailed experimental documentation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Must be available for weekend work and overtime as needed

*This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience.  The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person’s relevant experience and/or education level.
