Associate Histology Technician

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Routine staining- operation and maintenance of autostainer; reagent preparation; use of automated coverslipper and manual coverslipping
• Microtomy – produce quality sections free of aesthetic defects; frozen sectioning; Special staining – identify appropriate control; follow and/or modify specified procedure(s) reagent preparation, including single, serial, and concentration dilutions; and interpret staining quality
• Review and QC slides; Prepare for upcoming studies or projects; Additional duties may include: Tissue trimming - tissue identification; trimming per SOP guidelines
• Embedding - per SOP guidelines; operation and maintenance of tissue processors
• Necropsy - tissue identification; dissection according to SOP guidelines without trauma; gross descriptions per provided guidelines; time necropsies.  
• Maintenance of laboratory equipment.  
• Work in a team environment with a professional and positive attitude
• Other duties as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

• H.S. diploma or equivalent with 5+ years in Histology or B.S. degree in Biology or related field with 3+ years in Histology.  
• Proficiency with special stains, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and microscopy.
• ASCP Registered Histology Technician preferred.

*This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience.  The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person’s relevant experience and/or education level.
