We are currently seeking a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon to provide crucial veterinary input across various areas of our operations. This full-time permanent role is based at our state-of-the-art facility in Belton, just outside Loughborough. Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with our Named Veterinary Surgeon(s) to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in laboratory animal science and related disciplines through ongoing education and training.
  • Provide veterinary cover for animal units and clinical services at our facilities.
  • Support the implementation of new techniques, procedures, and technologies to enhance animal care and welfare.
  • Engage with stakeholders to promote a culture of care and professionalism within the company.
  • Provide advice and assistance to staff on the implementation of the three Rs (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement) principles.
  • Deputise for senior veterinary staff as needed and support staff training and development.
  • Comply with regulatory, quality, and health and safety procedures, including maintaining records and obtaining necessary accreditations.

Qualifications

Requirements:

 

Education and Qualifications:

  • Veterinary degree with professional registration with the RCVS.

Work Experience and Knowledge:

  • Experience in general practice or laboratory animal care, including surgical skills.
  • Auditing or inspection experience is advantageous.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.

Technical/Specialist Skills:

  • Strong commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with teams.
  • Proficiency in surgical procedures and anaesthesia.
  • Interest or experience in animal ethics, welfare science, genetics, or related disciplines is desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment and adapt to evolving challenges.
